In modern variable frequency drive (VFD) systems, sudden frequency changes generate high-frequency electrical current pulses known as shaft currents (bearing currents) that pass through the bearings. The pulse energy created by these electrical discharge currents travels through the bearing ball and inner ring, reaching the oil film layer. This electrical discharge process is known as EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining). The effect of a single current pulse (EDM) is negligible. However, even a tiny EDM pit creates further EDM occurrences, leading to progressive damage in the form of typical EDM fluting. Modern AC drives operate at very high frequencies, and it has been determined that these damages occur in bearings within a short period due to the numerous electrical discharges. This issue is also encountered in medium voltage (MV) motors, in addition to frequency converter-driven motors.
DAMAGE ON THE SHAFT CAUSED BY SHAFT CURRENT
Shaft Grounding Ring:
There are many ways to prevent shaft current. The most economical and long-lasting solution is the shaft grounding brush.
Our products are available in two types: single-piece and two-piece.

Antistatic Brush:
Static electricity is a significant problem in industrial production lines, especially in the electronics, plastics, textile, packaging and printing industries. Static charges accumulating on materials can cause production disruptions, quality deterioration, dust attraction and even damage to sensitive components. To eliminate these problems, the antistatic brushes we offer for sale safely discharge or neutralize static electricity that may occur due to friction.
